Funding For Business: £6 million for Building Information Modelling

The Technology Strategy Board is to invest up to £6m in collaborative R&D projects to accelerate the commercial success of UK firms carrying out R&D related to Building Information Modelling (BIM).
The use of BIM in the delivery of the built environment is set to grow exponentially in the coming years both in the UK and overseas. The UK Government aims for centrally procured construction projects to be implemented using collaborative Level 2 BIM, as a minimum by 2016. This initiative aims to achieve significant improvement in cost, value and carbon performance through the use of open sharable asset information. This will help the supply chain unlock more efficient and collaborative ways of work throughout the entire project and asset life-cycle.
If you are working in the built environment or ICT or digital services sector, and are looking to develop new products, services or processes to capitalise on the rapidly growing BIM enabled construction sector, this event is for you.
The competition will open on 17 March 2014 and the deadline for Expressions of Interest is 30 April 2014.
